Why We Built StudyRails
It started with a simple frustration. As students ourselves, navigating the institution application process felt like trying to solve a puzzle with missing pieces. Information was scattered across dozens of websites, data was outdated, and getting honest insights about professors and programs was nearly impossible.
We watched talented students make uninformed decisions — choosing institutions based on incomplete information, missing out on opportunities simply because they didn't know they existed. The existing tools were either too expensive, too complicated, or designed for counselors rather than students.
So we decided to build something different. From our base in San Jose, in the heart of Silicon Valley, we set out to create a platform that puts students first — with comprehensive data, intuitive tools, and genuine transparency. No hidden agendas, no pay-to-play rankings, just the information you need to make the right choice for your future.
